For now, the honestbee delivery of Singapore’s favourite local cuisines will be restricted to the CBD area

honestbee, the Singaporean food and grocery delivery service, announced today the launch of a new hawker centre delivery service in the Central Business District (CBD).

The on-demand food delivery service will be available between 11am and 2pm from Monday to Friday. Given the area and time, the move should accommodate business people during their lunch times.

The company plans to extend the service throughout Singapore in the future.

honestbee is also incentivising bulk orders. The delivery fee is S$3.50 (US$2.57), or about the cost of many meals at a hawker centre. Furthermore, for orders over S$35 (US$25), honestbee will waive the delivery fee.

So, it definitely makes economical sense to gather a few colleagues and order a team lunch. Yes, people can order from different stalls as long as its from the same centre.

Currently, the three centres on the programme are the Maxwell Food Centre, Amoy Street Food Centre, and Hong Lim Food Centre.

For honestbee users, they can expect to see a new section under the ‘food’ category called ‘Hawker Food’. It then works like most food deliver apps, whereby the food is ordered in the app, prepared by the restaurant and a delivery person makes the trip to the home or office.

Hawker Centre delivery in Singapore is nothing new. In August of 2016, the startup hawker.today closed its doors after nine-months.

A major contributor to the death of hawker.today was the delivery fee, which was slightly more expensive than honestbee at S$4.50 (US$3.30).

honestbee is making a push to become a do-everything delivery service. Its core product is grocery delivery, but it also has hot food, laundry and ticketing services.
