Thanh Phuong Nguyen, an entrepreneur and software developer that studied computer science in Germany, co-founded Fab Lab Hanoi in March 2016. It’s currently being run partially by engineering students who are volunteering their time and summer holidays hacking projects together at the lab.

The makerspace is meant to bring DIY culture to Hanoi, but also to bridge the gap between the theory-heavy lessons taught in university and the practical skills needed in the real world.

While Fab Lab is currently working towards building up its community through workshops and events, Nguyen said that she hopes to evolve the space into a hardware incubator in the future.
