Achmad Zaky and Rachmat Kaimuddin of Bukalapak

Indonesian e-commerce unicorn Bukalapak today announced significant changes in its C-level composition, effective January 6, 2020.

In this new development, the CEO position will be taken over by Rachmat Kaimuddin while incumbent Achmad Zaky will move into a new position as Advisor (as well as Co-Founder).

The company also announced that Zaky is set to launch the Achmad Zaky Foundation and will focus on startup mentorship in Indonesia. The foundation itself will work on the field of science and education, entrepreneurship, impact investment, and research.

Fajrin Rasyid will continue on holding the position of President and Co-Founder of Bukalapak together with Nugroho Herucahyono as CTO and Co-Founder, Willix Halim as COO, Teddy Oetomo as CSO, and Natalia Firmansyah as CFO.

Bagus Hirmawan, who joined the company in July this year, will continue on holding the Chief of Talent position.

We are bringing Rachmat on board as we believe in his ability to take Bukalapak to a new height. I see Rachmat as the right man … in the right timing,” Zaky explains in a press statement.

Prior to joining Bukalapak, Kaimuddin was the Director of Finance and Planning at Bank Bukopin. He started off his career as a Senior Associate at Boston Consulting Group. Apart from that, he was also the Managing Director of PT Cardig Air Services, Chief Financial Officer of PT Bosowa Corporindo, Managing Director of PT Semen Bosowa Maros, VP of Baring Private Equity Asia, and Principal of Quvat.

The company’s new leadership will put emphasis on navigating the company in the long run. Under the new leadership, Bukalapak will focus on talents, funding, and finance management, as part of its effort in supporting Indonesian SMEs.
