Indonesian home-and-living platform Dekoruma today announced that it has raised a “multi-million” dollar Series B funding round from Indonesia’s Global Digital Niaga and AddVentures by SCG, the corporate venture arm of Thailand’s Siam Cement Group.

Venture capital firm Skystar Capital, with the company’s existing investors Beenext and Convergence Ventures, also participated in the funding round.

The funding round followed an undisclosed Series A that the company has raised in late 2016.

Dekoruma plans to use the new funding to support product development (particularly its proprietary Design & Build platform), extend supply chain capacity, and expand services to other cities in Indonesia.

Founded in 2016 by Dimas Harry Priawan and Aruna Harsa, the West Jakarta-based company started off as an online marketplace for affordable furniture and household appliances.

It then expanded to include other verticals such as interior design, home renovation services, and material supply store.

In a press statement, Dekoruma explained that homeowners will be matched with interior designers who will design the houses using the startup’s real-time design platform.

The platform will connect them to partner workshops for production, contractors for assembly and installation, as well as third-party vendors such as mechanical and electrical, or flooring and wall painting.

The partners will also use more than 70,000 products available on Dekoruma platform.

Using this process, the startup claimed that it is able to cut down project duration from 20 weeks to only eight to 12 weeks.

Explaining the company’s mission, Priawan said that Dekoruma aspires to put an end to inefficiencies that have long occurred in the home-and-living industry.

“Currently, interior designers are handling the A-to-Zs of every design process, from marketing, design, procurement, project management, even payment. This leads to overwork, and as a result designers are unable to yield the utmost services to customers,” he said.

“Looking at this, we thrive to build our own design platform, which allows them to cut down manual processes. This in turn lets them focus on delivering dream designs to customers faster,” he added.

Dekoruma said that it currently runs more than 500 home designing and building projects, each valued around IDR70-100 million (US$4,500-6,500), performed by more than 100 interior design partners in Jakarta.
