She Loves Tech (SLT) is a global platform committed to building an ecosystem for technology, entrepreneurship and innovation that creates opportunities for women.

In her opening to address a 300-strong crowd, Leanne Robers, Co-founder at She Loves Tech, stated that only 14 per cent of tech founders are women, and only 2 per cent of funds invested have been allocated to women-led/women-impact initiatives. As there are already enough obstacles for women to step up and be given an equal opportunity, She Loves Tech will continue to operate as a non-profit and have plans to start an accelerator programme in the near future.

While the pitching events are largely similar,  Robers shared that she is always invigorated by the excitement and the stories that come out of each country, as She Loves Tech continues to expand their competition platform globally.

Most recently, in Pakistan, She Loves Tech was featured on national television, where it was able to inspire females in the country to take up tech and entrepreneurship. For this year’s competition in Singapore, She Loves Tech secured a partnership with Zalora for a pre-event styling workshop and pitch training programme with the startups.

It was close to 10 pm when the winner was announced and the event drew to a close, but the venue was still packed and brimming with energy from start to finish. This is a testament to the quality and diversity of the startups, investors and community in-attendance at She Loves Tech Singapore 2019.
