EDGE HACK revealed the teams that are set to compete in a hackathon and pitch session on September 10
Singapore-based non-profit organisation for youth enterpreneurism EDGE Society today announced the 10+1 shortlisted teams to its ideathon and hackathon competition, EDGE Hack.
The teams are set to compete in a 24-hour hackathon and pitch session on September 10, where they will compete for micro funding from various partners.
They were shortlisted based on idea, validation, startup team, business model, and continuity plan, with a cash funding pool of up to S$100,000 (US$73,000) available for them.
In a press statement, EDGE Society described the hackathon’s judging process as similar to style of American TV series Shark Tank, where a judging panel of investors will evaluate, offer their conditions, and decided the team to fund.
“We organise this EDGE HACK for Aspiring Entrepreneurs (comprises of Youths and PMETS) to work on their startup ideas. For individuals to solve real-world problems in three segments: social, general, and deep tech. We have a total of 52 subcategories and top 100 problem statements provided by our partners,” explained EDGE Society President Jayren Teo Jian Rong.
The following are the list of the teams:
The Quants
According to the team, 96 per cent of traders lose money and it is largely attributed by human emotions. They aim to solve the issue by utilising quantitative/algorithmic trading.

InsurPool
A social concept that redesigns the experience of insurance, aiming to make it enjoyable and purposeful “for all.”
Ethos
Ethos stores users’ detailed medical reports, using blockchain technology to enable secure and easy access to users’ medical information around the globe.
iGIVE
iGive aims to promote volunteerism and community bonding through gamification and tracking using time credits.
ReCreate
The team offers decentralised data logging system to track the records and performance of the Adventurers.
GoodForFood
Good For Food offers Smart Waste Management System that empowers large commercial kitchens with big data analytics to reduce their food waste, cost, and environmental footprint.
FoodCase
The team provides nutrition advisor and AI assistant that can identify food and automatically curate nutritional information just by taking a picture.
PitchSpot
The team offers crowdsourced freelance talents with relevant technical skill-sets; aims to collaborate and solve industry challenges faced by corporates.
FlavorGator
The team aims to disrupt the institutional food service industry by creating a platform for feedback collection and information management.

Zroom
The team builds an app that connect car owners to service providers such as insurance, workshops, grooming and accessories. It currently has 10 workshops on board.
Dynamic Learning
The team aims to empower what it refers as “people with social problems” to improve their social status by producing food and other products (e.g. handicrafts) which are commercially marketed on dynamic learning online marketplace (for Singapore).
EDGE Society is an initiative led by youth volunteers in the Singapore startup ecosystem hub. It is supported by ACE and SPRING Singapore.
