Indonesia-focussed venture capital firm Alpha JWC Ventures today announced that it has led an undisclosed Series A funding round for Nusantara Technology, a Jakarta-based media startup.

Insignia Ventures also participated in this funding round for the startup.

Nusantara Technology is the company behind Millennial-focussed media platforms Yukepo and Keepo, as well as interactive content marketing platform PlayingViral.

The company started off with Yukepo and Keepo, which it claimed to have been profitable already, but deciding to enter the tech space with the launch of PlayingViral.

PlayingViral itself is a platform that allows brands to conduct surveys or quizzes for marketing or data analytics purposes.

The platform includes big corporations such as Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia, as well as small businesses in the beauty and property sectors, as clients.

“My co-founders and I saw that if we ever wanted to be a billion-dollar company, we cannot rely solely on media business. We need to create a scalable tech product,” said Nusantara Technology Co-Founder Steven Wongsoredjo in a press statement.

“In the long term, we want to be a cloud and software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that can solve smal- and medium-sized enterprises’ (SMEs) problems with our end-to-end digital tools, and to expand globally as well,” he added.

Nusantara Technology was a participant of the Y Combinator incubator programme, the second Indonesian startup to do so.

Wongsoredjo said that today Yukepo and Keepo have a total of 10 to 15 million monthly visitors.

The company is also expanding to Southeast Asia, starting with Thailand.
