Thomas has held various CMO positions, at companies such as Motion Global and Vinomofo

Thailand fashion marketplace Pomelo has announced the appointment of former Lazada CMO Jean Thomas as its new CMO.

This marks the second appointment of a C-level executive from the Lazada Group in a year: Jim Boland, former CFO of RedMart (which was acquired by Lazada in 2016), joined in late 2018.

Prior to his role as Lazada’s CMO, Thomas was the Director of Brand and Acquisition Marketing at RedMart. And before that, he was the CMO at Motion Global, an e-commerce company for designer glasses, and at Vinomofo, an Australian wine vending startup.

“Armed with a background in e-commerce, I am excited to be part of an innovative and rapidly-scaling company guided by the pursuit of an optimal customer experience,” said Thomas, in an official press release.

“This stage of Pomelo’s growth presents salient and timely opportunities to build lasting brand relationships with our customers from across the region,” he added.

Launched in 2013 by co-founders Casey Liang and David Jou, Pomelo has raised over US$30 million in funding to date — becoming of one Thailand’s prominent success stories. Its backers include JD.com, Start Today Ventures, and Central Group.

Its platform currently serves over 50 countries. In June this year, Pomelo launched its first international store in Singapore.
