This month, we witnessed the birth of a second unicorn in Singapore through a funding round for Trax

We have published a list of startups that have announced a seed funding round in July, so this time we are looking at startups that have announced their Series A funding round –and beyond.

The most exciting part is that this month we witnessed the birth of a second unicorn in Singapore through a US$100 million Series D funding round for Trax.

Apart from Trax, existing Southeast Asian unicorns such as Grab and gojek are also battling it out with the announcement of new investments, as part of their ongoing funding rounds. Both companies have been trying to expand their offerings beyond ride-hailing and other on-demand services by entering the fintech scene.

Grab
Stage: Series H (ongoing)

Investors: Experian

As part of Grab’s ongoing Series H funding round, the investment also opens a partnership in which Experian and Grab will see the use of technology and data analytics to support Grab’s customised offerings for its users. Grab’s other investor SoftBank Group has also announced its commitment to invest another US$2 billion in the company.

Waresix
Stage: Series A
Amount: US$14.5 million
Investors: EV Growth, SMDV, Jungle Ventures

Indonesian logistics tech startup Waresix plans to use the funding to expand its land transportation service and further strengthen its warehousing network to second-tier cities.

Kredivo
Stage: Series C
Amount: Undisclosed
Investors: Telkomsel Mitra Inovasi (TMI), MDI Ventures

Digital credit platform Kredivo has been supporting payment transaction for big players in e-commerce, such as Tokopedia, BukaLapak, Shopee, and digital cashier system Moka.

Ritase

Amount: US$8.5 million
Investors: Golden Gate Ventures, Jafco Asia, ZWC Ventures, Insignia Ventures, Beenext, and Skystar Capital

Indonesian trucking services platform Ritase plans to use the funding to focus on growth and new market expansion.

GoComet
Stage: Series A
Amount: US$2.2 million
Investors: Leo Capital, SGInnovate, August One, India Quotient.

Singapore-headquartered logistics management SaaS platform GoComet said that its platform has processed more than 19,680 tonnes of air freight, and 84,000 containers, estimated to have saved over S$27 million (US$20 million) for its customers.

Singapore Life Pte. Ltd.

Investors: Sumitomo Life Insurance Company

A wealth technology and life insurance company, this investment brings Singapore Life’s total funding to date to US$153 million.

igloohome
Stage: Series B
Amount: US$15 million
Investors: Insignia Ventures Partners, Wavemaker Partners, SEEDS Capital, Kickstart Ventures, TH Capital, Pine Venture Partners, On Asset Management, InnoVen Capital, Singtel Innov8 and Great Noble International

With this round, igloohome has also announced the official launch of iglooworks, a suite of smart access solutions for enterprise customers, primarily in the real estate and infrastructure sectors.

One BioMed
Stage: Series A
Amount: US$5 million
Investors: Biopath Ventures, ARCH Venture Partners, SEEDS Capital

Singapore-based medical diagnostics company One BioMed said that it will use the fund to commercialise its first product.

theAsianparent
Stage: Series C
Amount: “eight-figure US dollars”
Investors: Fosun, JD.com, ATM Capital, Redbadge Pacific, Global Grand Leisure, WHG Capital

Parenting community and content platform theAsianparent plans to use the new funding to support expansion in Asia and Africa, as well as accelerate plans to further develop its recently-launched mobile app.

Ezyhaul
Stage: Series C
Amount: US$16 million
Investors: Undisclosed

Singapore-headquartered logistics tech startup Ezyhaul will use the investment to expand to new markets in South Asia as well as to drive further technological innovation to offer a plug-and-play model for its clients through its online platform.

Singapore-based fintech startup Bambu looks to reach to a wider B2B audience with the funding.

StashAway

Amount: US$12 million
Investors: Eight Roads Ventures, Asia Capital & Advisors

The funding round has brought the robo-advisor platform’s total funds raised to date to US$20.4 million.

RedDoorz
Stage: Series B
Amount: US$45 million
Investors: Qiming Venture Partners, Jungle Ventures, MNC Group, Hendale Capital, International Finance Corporation, and Susquehanna International Group (SIG)

Hotel management and booking platform RedDoorz intends to use the new amounts to aggressively pursue growth strategies to become a prominent player in the region

Ralali
Stage: Series C
Amount: US$13 million
Investors: Arbor Ventures, TNB Aura, Jo Hirao, AddVentures, Qualgro

Indonesian B2B marketplace Ralali plans to enter Thailand in collaboration with Siam Cement Group.

Halodoc
Stage: Series B+
Amount: Undisclosed
Investors: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Prudential Life Insurance, and Allianz X

The fresh investment brings Halodoc’s total funding raised so far to US$100 million.

The proceedings from this round will go into establishing an insect protein production facility in Southeast Asia.

Hmlet said the funds will be used to further fulfil the demand for “affordable, flexible, and secure housing” across the company’s existing markets.

Trax

Investors: HOPU Investments

With this round, Singapore-based Trax has become the second-only startup from the country after ride-hailing giant Grab to enter the coveted Unicorn club.

Investors: KKR & Co, Emerald Media, Blue Sky, DKSH Holding AG, and Sinar Mas

aCommerce said it will use the funding to drive expansion and stay on course for its 2020’s IPO plan.

iflix

Investors: Fidelity International, Catcha Group, Hearst, Sky and EMC.

The money from the new round will be used to drive growth ahead of a prospective IPO.

soCash
Stage: Series B
Amount: US$6 million
Investors: Glory Ltd., SC Ventures, Vertex Ventures

soCash will use the funds to grow its distribution network in order to improve the accessibility and convenience of banking services in Indonesia, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Near

Investors: Greater Pacific Capital (GPC)

Singapore-based AI-powered platform Near wants to use the new funding to launch a suite of new data products.

gojek
Stage: Series F (ongoing)
Amount: US$100 million
Investors: Visa, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), three Mitsubishi units

This round will support the acceleration of Go-Jek’s payment service Go-Pay across Southeast Asia.
