Filipino fintech startup Voyager names new President – Press Release

Filipino fintech startup Voyager today announced the appointment of Shailesh Baidwan as its new President.

According to an official statement, Baidwan will be in charge of the company’s operations and help shape the company’s strategy and business direction.

Prior to joining the company, he had previously held major management roles at American Express and Visa across the Asia Pacific Region.

Reporting directly to Voyager Founder and CEO Orlando B. Vea, he will also take on the same role as President in PayMaya Philippines (PayMaya), Voyager’s fintech arm and digital financial services provider.

Voyager is the company behind fintech services such as PayMaya (prepaid payment wallet service), PayMaya Business (mobile acquiring service), and Smart Padala (mobile-based remittance network).

In late 2018, Voyager raised a US$215 million funding round that was said to be the largest private fundraising by a Filipino tech company to date.

Dropee launches new enterprise solution NexHera – Press Release

Malaysia-based B2B e-commerce marketplace Dropee announced the launch of NexHera, a new B2B platform that gives merchants real-time visibility of business data across their supply chain.

The platform includes features such as:

– A user-friendly dashboard for the end-to-end supply chain management.
– A personalised B2B eCommerce platform for customers and sales representatives to place orders.
– The ability to set up and manage financing terms with selected customers.
– Detailed insights on customer behaviour and preferences, which helps maximise value and optimise marketing budgets.

Fashion e-commerce startup Pomelo introduces RPET fabric for its line – Press Release

Southeast Asian fashion e-commerce company Pomelo introduced the use of Recycled PET (RPET) fabric from supplier EcoMax to its production processes for its third Purpose collection.

The RPET material was made from 21,775 post-consumer PET bottles.

In a press statement, the company said that along with the use of RPET material, organically-sourced fabrics and natural dye higher up in the supply chain, the brand encourages high-value reuse through clothing donations and redistribution.

To participate, customers can drop off used clothing at select partnered locations and offline stores, or schedule free pick-ups by scanning a QR code stitched into their Purpose products. All collected clothing is then redistributed to underprivileged partner communities, organisations, and charities in Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia.

LittleLives launches app to facilitate parent-teacher communications – Press Release

Edutech startup LittleLives today announced the launch of a new app in Malaysia that allows parents to stay updated on their children’s activities at schools and day-cares.

The company also announced a plan to expand its services to Indonesia and Thailand this year.

“We have also just rolled out a mobile payment platform that aims to allow parents in Singapore to purchase uniforms, pay for field trips and sign up for extra-curricular classes for their pre-school children together with Singapore Bank, DBS. DBS and LittleLives have plans to roll out this payment gateway to other markets such as Brunei, Cambodia, China, Malaysia and Vietnam,” said Said Arjuna Raj, Chief Strategy Officer for Asia, LittleLives
