Indonesian ride-hailing giant Go-Jek to expand to the Philippines [e27]

Go-Jek CTO Ajey Gore announced that the company is set to launch its transportation and payments services in the Philippines next year, marking its debut in the international market. The company is also looking forward to enter other Southeast Asian markets, though Gore has declined to name it.

Israeli data platform provider iguazio expands to Asia Pacific [Press Release]

 

Israeli data platform provider iguazio opened its Singapore headquarter on Wednesday, which marks the company’s debut in the Asia Pacific market. The expansion followed a US$33 million Series B funding round that the company has raised in July from investors such as Verizon Ventures, Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group, and Dell Technologies Capital. iguazio also named ride-hailing giant Grab as its marquee customer in September.

Indian online travel company MakeMyTrip announced that it has partnered with P2P and social payments startup Mypoolin to enable group payments for travel gift cards. The partnership aims to help customers shop for shared gift-cards and vouchers on MakeMyTrip (for personal or corporate gifting) more easily.

SparkLabs Group joins Universal Music Group’s Accelerator Engagement Network [Press Release]

Accelerator operator SparkLabs Group announced that it is joining entertainment giant Universal Music Group’s Accelerator Engagement Network, an initiative that aims to develop music-related startups. Universal will work closely with SparkLabs’ operations in Seoul and Taipei, contributing industry expertise during application process and mentor accepted startups.

JD, Plug and Play join forces to work with US startups [TechCrunch]

Chinese e-commerce giant JD has announced a partnership with US-based accelerator firm Plug and Play to work with local startups. The new programme will cater to startups working in areas such as robotics, AI, AR/VR and the cloud. While Plug and Play will be in charge of the selection process, JD will be in charge of expertise, mentorship, technology, and others. Participating startups will also have the opportunities to tap into JD’s network and sell products to Chinese customers via its services.
