Bellugg, Thailand-based tourism startup that offers luggage delivery, luggage deposit and pickup at various service points and tourist commerce services, has received an investment from Expara and 500 TukTuks.

The company aims to use the Pre-Series A proceeds to ramp-up revenue, expand market presence, invest in R&D technology, and hire talent that helps drive their business.

Bellugg was launched in 2016 and it seeks to refine tourist’s journeys through tailored logistics services. It says that it leverages technology to eliminate commuting time and provide a hands-free travelling experience for its users.

“We believe more travellers will spend on experiences and not just physical things. Bellugg captures data across tourist’s journey, utilises insights from the tourism industry, allowing brands to offer products and experience personalised to each traveller,” said Anix Lynch, Partner of Expara Thailand.

The investors noted that it believes in Bellugg’s market opportunity as tourists are rapidly shifting from Group Inclusive Tour (GIT) to Free Independent Traveler (FIT), fitting Bellugg’s main customers.

Bellugg claims to have focussed on building brand awareness and expanding its presence by partnering with major hotels, airlines, and travel agencies in Asia.

“Thailand will always be one of the top destinations for travellers around the world. We foresee the number of inbound tourists to increase 10-12 per cent annually” says Sipavich Dhumrongvaraporn, Co-CEO, and Co-Founder of Bellugg.

Bellugg notes that it has secured partnerships with companies such as Thai Airways, Air Asia, Bangkok Airlines, Minor Hotels, St. Regis, The Peninsula, HIS Travel, and JTB.

Furthermore, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Bellugg Sithi Nerngchamnong also highlights about the pledge of security and transparency for users.

“To ensure transparency and security, we provide an interactive tracking system and insurance that covers up to THB50,000 (US$1,600) per luggage to alleviate our customers’ concerns and maximises travel experience. We strongly believe that the luggage delivery service will soon be standard practice for the tourism industry,” Nerngchamnong said.

500 TukTuks’ Krating Poonpol, Managing Partner, confirms that the VC has backed Bellugg from their previous seed round.
