The robotic process automation provider aims to help over 5,000 students and professionals get ready for automation in the workforce

Robotic process automation company UiPath announced that it has formed partnerships with regional academic institutions to prepare over 50,000 ASEAN students and professionals for an automated workplace of the future.

The Academic Alliance program included names such as Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore, Republic Polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education, ITE College West, Asia Pacific College (APC) in the Philippines, and King Mongkut’s University of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in Thailand on board.

Skills that UiPath said will be critical for the automated workforce are critical automation skills, leveraging RPA in the workplace, and working alongside software robots. UiPath aims to train over 50,000 students and professionals in ASEAN over the next three years with the aforementioned skills.

“The ASEAN region is going through a period of rapid economic and technological transformation and the workplace of the future will look very different to the workplace of today. We need to prepare and train our youth for a more automated future, one where the ability to work alongside robots will be as important as the skills they bring to bear.”

“That is why UiPath is committed to training more than one million students globally in the next three years as we understand that education and re-skilling are vital if we are to thrive in a digital future,” said Tom Clancy, Senior Vice President for Learning at UiPath.

The UiPath RPA courses will be incorporated into the existing curriculum offered by higher learning institutions in ASEAN, institutionalising RPA within academia to prepare students and educators with in-demand automation skills.

The content of the courses, as well as the UiPath software platform, will be provided and developed by UiPath Academic Alliance instructors. They will also train and qualify educators who, once certified, will be able to teach students and other educators.

“The UiPath Academic Alliance will provide our students with the skills and knowledge for employability in the economy of tomorrow. The skills that they learn will allow them to create and work alongside robots for process automation which is increasingly required by industry,” said Dr. Goh Mong Song, Principal of ITE College West.

UiPath will teach how automation is applied to business processes, and equip technical students with RPA Developer skills. Where possible, UiPath shall also connect academic institutions with UiPath’s own customers to facilitate on-the-job learning.

Announced since October 2018, more than 100 colleges and universities are said to have adopted RPA as part of their curriculum, allowing students to develop skills needed for the Jobs of the Future.
